Winter is coming
The Matildas look set to come to the rescue as they hopefully give the women's world cup a real shake.
I'm missing the A league though and have watched a few EPL games and the odd bit of K league. The K League feels quite similar to the A league in that it's fairly open and quite ahem "robust". The games I have enjoyed the most though have been Sydney and Melbournes ACL matches. There just feels like there's more at stake and a larger narrative with an extra layer of meaning. Which players do well, injuries, how they are performing, who looks to be over the hill etc etc. All that stuff means more when it involves teams that play in your favorite (and very small) league.
I would love to see the winter void of A league coming up filled with something. The new cup competition in Victoria involving the Heart and Victory seems a great idea to me and I would love too see all states replicate it.
That seems the ideal way to set up the proposed FFA cup for mine. Each state plays it own cup involving there A league and local teams and then the champions of each state and territory then compete in the FFA cup. A three round national knockout cup that's connected to all the way down to your closest federation team yet not breaking the bank on travel costs.
